Romance Was Born Designs Marvel-ous Looks For Australian Fashion Week [link]
The whimsical Australian designer duo, Romance Was Born, kicked off Australian Fashion Week with a super-heroic collection for Spring/Summer 2013, sponsored by no other than Marvel Comics. With a collection that includes a tangible incarnation of Jack Kirby’s famous Kirby Krackle (comprised of textured beads and baubles) floating on a cosmic purple and charcoal ensemble, the Romance Was Born x Marvel Comics collaboration is truly a walking work of art.
Straying away from the blatant iconography and overuse of superhero emblems, Romance Was Born raised the bar for the fusion of fashion and comics, utilizing a mix of both comic and couture techniques to create high fashion looks inspired by Jack Kirby and the creators of Marvel Comics. These 25 looks feature anatomical trompe-l’œil prints, textured embellishments, halftone patterns, and colorful motifs of Marvel’s finest making cameo appearances throughout the collection.
Although the fashion may be a bit audacious for everyday wear, these looks provide a great style guide in how to add a touch of comic-inspired glamor into your wardrobe, from jewel-toned color coordination to structured silhouettes to bold prints.

Look how pretty Sonya and I were at fancy dinner last night!
To answer mottledwithteethmarks’s question: We ate everything! We went to Lenoir with Malcolm and, because there were 3 of us, we had everything on the menu except: the chickpea panisse, the fluke (we ordered it but they were out, & I was sad I didn’t get to try the avocado butter), and the fish curry. Everything was delicious. Also, I love to get excited about places that serve cheese for dessert.

“
I’ve adjusted my life to make room for my hypervisibility. I realized when I was getting into body acceptance and fat politics how my body’s visibility was being used against me and how I would feel comfortable and more importantly empowered fighting back. I fight back by making myself SUPER FUCKING VISIBLE on MY terms and presenting myself in a way that forces you to see my fat body but see ME in it. Nicole Archer said “Femininity in this culture means people think they’re allowed to look at you. I present in a way that lets them know I’m looking back.”…The thing is, I WANT to to be threatening. I want you to think about shit when you see me bouncing down the street.

Zebra Katz, “Ima Read”
I am currently proofreading that bitch. I’ma read it in about three hours.
My sister, Kendall and I saw Zebra Katz at the Chaos in Tejas party during SXSW.
I was just talking about this song and Chaos in Tejas, separately, tonight, & then they popped up in my Tumblr.
horror
…why is a grapefruit segment horrifying?
Something in me wants to do like a pro-life thing with this….
This image shows a 8 week old fetus that has been aborted and feasted upon by feminists.
This image shows how abortion providers dispose of the fetuses, each one packed into a container like sardines until it bursts open and the feminists may start their grisly feast.
